Our carbon footprint is a measure of how much
we effect the environment by the way we live. The bigger our footprint,
the more natural resources we are using and damage we are causing!
The size of our carbon footprint is calculated
by the amount of carbon dioxide, or CO2, our activities produce.
CO2 is one of the damaging greenhouse gases that is contributing
to global warming or climate change.
The way we choose to travel has a big effect
on the size of our carbon footprint.
The petrol we put in cars is a big CO2 producer.
We can reduce the damaging effect CO2 is having on the planet
if we use less of it.
Making fewer car journeys and walking and cycling
instead is one way we can do this.
